This organically modern kitchen is curated with different finishes, textures and unique elements. We used several different types of materials to give that curated/custom feel including the following:
• Classic White Modern Slim Shaker Cabinets Painted in Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace
• Rift Cut White Oak Hood and Island in a Soft Matte Natural Finish
• Scalloped Black & White Marble Backsplash that added a bold pop and dimension
• Accents of Reeded and Clear Glass, so that the Kitchen felt open and not heavy … especially on the wall with the windows that let in beautiful natural light
• Mixed Metals – Polished & Stainless architectural/industrial styled faucet, matte black hardware and subtle accents of antique brass in the stools and dining chairs
• Natural Stone Monte Blanc Quartzite countertops brought dimensions and natural beauty to the space with beautiful subtle soft veins that pulled together the black accents throughout the space
• 10” white oak select grade floors
Some unique challenges in the space were addressing the overall layout as we had an opening into the pantry that we felt needed to be hidden as that is a work/storage place that should be able to be closed off when not in use as well as a wall with two windows. This made the appliance placement, range/hood placement, etc. a challenge. We decided to disguise the refrigerator/freezer as well as the pantry with hidden cabinet doors to help elongate the range wall and keep a smooth/clean appearance. For the window wall, we did flanking glass cabinets that are fully lit for a beautiful ambiance at night and we accented the entire wall with a beautiful Mark Alexander organic patch work textured wallcovering, to create a beautiful accent wall that you see as soon as you walk in from the Great Room to the Kitchen. We added riftcut white oak cabinets for some dimension and to accessorize. The shelves have built-in accent lighting to show off the accessories and create a beautiful ambiance. To provide protection from the sun when it is rising in the morning, we added shades that are motorized and completely hidden in black boxes that blend away and look like a part of the windows. We did not do any hanging fixtures of the island as we felt that would distract from the beautiful window wall as well as call more attention that the back wall was asymmetrical to the island.
