This custom wood flooring installation, completed in a high-end coastal residence in The Moorings, exemplifies the intersection of technical mastery, material excellence, and design-forward innovation. Spanning two stories and integrating a bespoke staircase, the project utilized premium European white oak—selected for its tonal richness, structural integrity, and timeless aesthetic.
The intent was not merely to install flooring, but to elevate architectural surfaces into a curated design experience, fully integrated with the home’s contemporary interior language.
Signature Custom Features
1. Artisan Herringbone Pattern Installation
Carefully installed in the grand entry, powder room, and key transition spaces, this hand-laid herringbone pattern brings a sense of classic European refinement. The cuts and layout were meticulously aligned, offering visual rhythm and cohesion.
2. Schluter Metal Edge Detailing
Incorporated into transitions, this element provided a refined, clean finish that both protects the material and echoes the home’s minimal yet luxurious design palette. The contrast between warm oak and precision metal detailing underscores the project’s attention to contrast and clarity.
3. Floor-to-Wall Herringbone Feature – Powder Room
A dramatic vertical continuation of the herringbone patterned floor was custom-installed to wrap up the powder room wall, turning a traditionally utilitarian space into a statement of material artistry and bespoke detailing.
4. Integrated Wood Feature Wall – Bedroom Headboard
The master bedroom features a custom-built headboard wall, clad in horizontal planks of the same oak flooring. Framed in black powder-coated metal, the feature is seamlessly integrated and reflects the broader design language of the home—subtle, architectural, and grounded in craftsmanship.
5. Fireplace Finish – Wood & Black Metal
The fireplace was designed as a sculptural focal point, clad in precision-cut oak planks with black metal accents. The result is a warm yet bold centerpiece that ties together flooring, furnishings, and structural elements.
6. Wine Room Installation
To ensure material continuity, the climate-controlled wine room was finished in matching oak. Every cut was tailored around glass walls, and environmental systems, preserving both aesthetics and function.
7. Custom-Made Bullnose Stair Treads
Each tread was handcrafted in-house at our Naples wood shop using the same batch of oak as the flooring. Custom bullnoses with eased edges were fabricated by our master carpenter to ensure exact grain and tone alignment—an uncompromising level of finish that distinguishes high-end craftsmanship.
Why This Project Merits Recognition
This project is not only a showcase of material quality and fine workmanship—it represents a philosophy of elevated construction. Every element, from substrate prep to edge detailing, was executed with precision, care, and respect for the interior designer’s vision.
The flooring didn’t just fill space—it shaped the home’s identity, linking architecture, furniture, and finish into a unified visual language. In every room, the oak serves as a foundation—elegant, warm, structurally sound, and crafted to endure.
This is not simply a wood flooring installation. It is a fully integrated design solution—bespoke, luxurious, and unforgettable.
