Outside Productions, Inc. – GardenView

Project Overview
Not every landscape is designed to be admired from a distance. GardenView was designed to be lived in, slowly, daily, and on whatever terms each resident could manage that day. Developed as part of a senior assisted living campus, this multi-zone botanical garden transforms the property’s open space into a connected series of therapeutic environments, each with its own identity, plant palette, and reason to draw someone outside.

Design and Execution
-The garden is organized into distinct themed zones: a Caribbean garden, Butterfly garden, Florida Native garden, Bromeliad garden, Succulent garden, Asian garden, and a secure -Reflection Garden for memory care residents, each with a curated spatial program developed around therapeutic intent
-A 58-foot living green wall composed of rubber tree, croton, caladium, and schefflera in layered bands of color serves as the project’s most commanding element
-Meandering rubberized pathways connect every zone, providing slip-resistant, mobility-device-accessible circulation without sacrificing the feeling of wandering through a genuine botanical garden
-A porcelain tile mural wall pairs living plant material against an artisan-crafted botanical backdrop reflecting local culture and resident identity
-Stacked stone pergola structures define threshold moments between zones, providing shade and orientation throughout

Creative and Unusual Plant Material
-Philodendron Burle Marx massed beneath palms creates a bold tropical composition unusual in a residential care setting
-Pink muhly grass in sweeping drifts against the tile mural wall introduces movement and seasonal color that reads as botanical garden rather than assisted living campus
-Blue agave and bismarck palm anchor the Caribbean garden zone with a distinct regional identity entirely its own

Environmental Sensitivity and Sustainability
-Native and regionally adapted species were selected throughout for climate resilience and reduced irrigation demand
-Rubberized permeable pathway surfaces and expanded green space support rainwater infiltration across the campus footprint
-Elevated garden beds maximize planting area on a constrained urban site while remaining fully accessible to residents

Design Value
GardenView redefines what outdoor space can mean in residential healthcare. Every decision, from path surface to plant selection, was made with a specific resident in mind: someone who deserves a landscape that treats their daily experience as the design brief. The result delivers therapeutic, social, and ecological value simultaneously, establishing a new standard for what assisted living environments can be.
