This entry floor was designed as a graphic statement underfoot, a custom geometric inlay that turns wood flooring into one of the home’s first architectural moments rather than a simple surface to walk across.
A bold triangular pattern, set in alternating dark walnut and bleached oak, radiates outward in a tessellated arrangement, reading almost like a tile or stone medallion despite being entirely wood. The two-tone inlay is precisely mitered and laid to follow the curve of the staircase above, allowing the geometry to wrap and shift naturally with the room’s circular footprint rather than fighting against it. Beyond the entry, the same dark wood transitions into a traditional herringbone field, giving the adjoining hallway a more classic, linear rhythm while staying tonally connected to the statement pattern at the room’s center.
