Private Residence

This 5-bed, 6-bath property showcases the seamless indoor/outdoor living that Naples craves coupled with a profound dialogue between architecture and light. Pulling up to the home through the gated entry, you glide along a cobblestone driveway that ushers you from one era to another as you approach a dramatic modern silhouette featuring a 12-foot tall full-metal pivot door. Via the foyer, you are greeted by the 25-foot ceilings of the great room, which boasts a 15-foot wide Skybell Circle chandelier from Bover, offering a dramatic light source as night falls, and warming the rectified 48 x 24 inch Italian porcelain flooring that weaves its way throughout the home. The residence features 12-foot tall glass panels and sliders from ES Windows, creating a dramatic experience from virtually every spot. Building a fully modern and minimalistic space requires great attention to detail and this home is no different. We included flush outlets and reglet molding throughout (all floors had to be perfectly floated before the walls could begin), while all interior doors are from Dorr Houzzer and feature hidden hinges and no trim or molding for a perfectly minimalist look. Every part of the home was designed by the client (a nationally-respected landscape architect) including the kitchen, which is framed by the adjoining great room and fuses contemporary minimalism with rich, tactile materials. Featuring flat panel rift cut white oak cabinets in black satin that climb to the ceiling, they were specially treated to bring out the wood’s grain. The space includes two 15-foot islands wrapped in enhanced granite — one for prep, the other for seating. To accommodate the islands expanse and keep the requested clean look (per the client’s directive), a welder created a solid steel frame that was receded under the 1.25 inch surface. Miele appliances embrace the graphite minimalism while a large hidden pantry makes entertaining effortless. The ceiling throughout much of the home is mahogany that went through a 6-stage bleaching process before it could be stained to the client’s desired hue. The primary wing of the residence is a sanctuary of glass, light, and luxurious textures and includes a bespoke custom-paneled media wall, a matching custom floating bed, and an adjacent private sitting room/library overlooking the manicured outdoor living area. The massive his-and-hers closets include floor-to-ceiling custom cabinetry with a mixture of flat panel and glass-front storage options. The en suite has floating his-and-hers vanities, a fully-integrated steam shower, and a stand-alone tub perfectly positioned to enjoy views of the property’s rain garden. The wing also includes a bamboo-floored home gym with chilled bottle filler as well as a 6-person sauna. In addition, the home features fully-integrated Colorbeam Lighting, a custom safe room with fingerprint entry security, and a partially glassed-in 6-car garage that is fully air conditioned. To get the client’s desired look, we pre-pitched the roof’s precast concrete slabs and added aluminum sun shades that were created by a local welder and placed via crane.
