This home’s flooring takes a more playful approach to the genre, swapping the expected herringbone or planked entry for a true checkerboard, then letting wide-plank white oak carry that same confidence through the rest of the house.

At the front door, oversized marble tiles alternate in a bold black-and-white diamond pattern, polished to a soft sheen that catches the light pouring through the arched, black-framed glass entry. It’s a classic motif executed at a scale that feels fresh rather than expected, anchored by a honey-toned wood stair that rises directly out of the pattern and softens its graphic edge.

From there, the floor shifts into a wide-plank white oak that runs uninterrupted through the kitchen, living, and dining spaces, light, warm, and consistently grained, so the eye moves easily across the home’s open footprint without a single transition strip breaking the flow. The pale wood tone holds its own under soaring coffered and tray ceilings, working as a neutral backdrop for the layered grays, wood tones, and water views beyond the home’s wall of folding glass doors.
