This client wanted a light and bright coastal feel with a few luxe touches for their condo. In addition to opening the kitchen, adding storage in the dining room and living room, and selecting furniture pieces to maximize seating and functionality in the small space, we updated the overall look to create a soft coastal background, then adorned it with subtle nods to the coastal lifestyle.
The kitchen, dining room, and living room were visually tied together to be one space with the matching cabinet style and hardware. The lit glass cabinets, gold hardware and fixtures, and the neutral background with touches of coastal elements like shiplap in the dining room and living room and the soft blue backsplash in the kitchen, create one aesthetic to build upon. The light oak flooring is accentuated with the soft neutral furnishings like the wood sofa table, soft beige sectional, and rib-fronted cabinet. The coastal blue from the kitchen backsplash is repeated in the area rug, the pattern of the chair fabric, the art and mirrors throughout, and various accessories. Coastal textures are found in the details, including the leafy dining room chandelier, the leafy chair fabric, the sand dollar dining room art, and the wave effect in the blues of the kitchen backsplash.
The lanai space carries the coastal aesthetic from the main areas, including soft blues in the area rug, ottoman, and dining chairs. The ottoman has a nautical stripe, while the dining chairs are a natural rattan finish that coordinates with the fluted lamp base and the wood-finished ceiling fan.
The primary bath has a more luxurious feel, incorporating specialty lighting to highlight the soft textured vanity wallpaper, the shell finish on the vanity mirrors, and the gold finishes throughout. The coastal elements are more subtle here, including the soft white and beige marble floor tile that mimics sand, the shell details, and the white oak wood cabinets.
The guest bath was updated using a neutral palette to open the space, white oak cabinets in a natural finish, and chrome fixtures that disappear into the background to accentuate the vanity and shower materials.
