The great room feature wall at 597 Ridge is a testament to innovative design and meticulous craftsmanship, brought to life by the creative vision of the Clive Daniel design team. Envisioned as the heart of the home, this wall serves as a seamless connective element between the kitchen and living spaces, enhancing flow and unity throughout the main living area.
A custom composition of vertical walnut wood slats mirrors the texture and warmth of the adjacent kitchen island, ensuring a harmonious transition between spaces. Thoughtful attention was given to every detail—most notably, the integrated backlighting layered within the walnut slats. This lighting, developed in close collaboration with the lighting design team, creates a captivating effect as soft illumination peeks through both the top and bottom of each slat, adding visual intrigue and depth.
Adding an unexpected dimension to the space, built-in benches were incorporated flanking the electric fireplace —an element rarely seen in great room design. These benches not only create depth and visual interest but also provide a welcoming, functional retreat, further distinguishing this feature wall as a true original.
Elevating the design further, each open section of the large-format porcelain tile backdrop is adorned with “jewelry-esque” light fixtures, sourced from the renowned luxury brand Visual Comfort. These fixtures, intentionally arranged in a unique, asymmetrical pattern, balance the composition and serve as luminous accents—much like artful adornments—against the wall’s sophisticated palette.
The feature wall has had such a profound impact on the space that the new homeowners chose to reorient the kitchen island to face this architectural centerpiece, so they could enjoy its serenity and artistry every day. For them, it is not just a wall, but a serene focal point—a living work of art that elevates the atmosphere of the entire home. It embodies uniting form, function, and visual artistry in a way that is both inspiring and unforgettable.
