California Closets – Custom Residential Closet Design

This custom closet project was created for a homeowner with a clear vision: dark, moody luxury with a personalized, eclectic flair. The client gave full creative freedom, allowing the design team to push the limits of tone, finish and texture. The target market in this case was a highly design-forward homeowner who wanted something completely custom and one-of-a-kind.

The closet’s tall walls and window placement created unique layout constraints that required careful planning. Additionally, several unnecessary outlets had to be rewired or worked around to maintain clean lines and uninterrupted wall space. These technical hurdles were met with design solutions that preserved the room’s aesthetics without sacrificing functionality.

A focal point of the space is the use of mixed finishes – Sandalwood and Ash cabinetry, gold and graphite hardware – required a strategic design eye to make the final look feel intentional and cohesive. The mirrored door and steamer cabinet with a built-in outlet added functional customization, tailored exactly to the client’s needs.
