Residential
This stunning residence was actually designed by the homeowner, who happens to be a nationally-recognized landscape architect. With that in mind, it comes as no surprise that great thought and care went into the landscape design and its elements. The exterior spaces are conceived not merely as additions but as integral extensions of the architectural vision. As the clients are not from the area there was extensive research into plants that would both fit an aesthetic, but also thrive and scale over the longterm. From the dramatic Italian cypress to the false Ashoka trees, walls of Clusia and pockets of elephant ears, the lines are a symphony of beauty when contrasted with the hardscape, especially at night due to the dramatic landscape lighting implemented throughout. Also included onsite are red maples, green buttonwood, yellow trumpet trees, magnolia, Alexander palms, Xandu Philodendron, dwarf Walters Viburnum, coco plum, dwarf Fakahatchee grass, and much more. Flagstone walkways on the perimeter and the extensive cobblestone driveway give a nod to tradition against the modern structure of the home. The generous lot size allowed for ample green space (save for bookended rain gardens), while the extensive use of glass in the residence meant that the view was constantly in mind. But once outdoors, the luxurious living area puts the landscape even more on display, offering an indoor/outdoor energy that welcomes everyone to enjoy the beauty of Naples. The property’s two-lane lap pool features a generous sun shelf at one end and a massive spa that seats 16 on the other, which includes a chiller for those times a cold plunge might hit the spot. Based on all this, it seems this client may have actually improved upon nature.
