After purchasing this home, the client sought to completely update its interior and customize it to better fit their lifestyle. To take advantage of the home’s spectacular golf course views, an outdoor living area extension, including a second-floor addition and sun deck, was added. Other project elements included a complete kitchen renovation, reconfiguration of one guest bedroom, relocation of the laundry room, and the addition of an upstairs bathroom to create a guest en-suite with a balcony. Additionally, all bathroom finishes were updated, flooring was replaced throughout and the home’s full interior was repainted. Essentially touching every bit of the home, the builder basically doubled the outdoor living area, moved the laundry room to the home’s opposite side, and added a bathroom to a guest suite to transform it into an en-suite. The extensive construction schedule included two simultaneous projects: construction of the home’s second-floor addition and the renovation of its entire interior. Oftentimes, when clients themselves have homebuilding and construction experience, projects can become complicated; however, in this case, the exact opposite situation occurred. The homeowners had great visions for their home. They liked the design and provided comfortable, consistent feedback throughout the duration of the extensive, 10-month project. The results are nothing short of spectacular. The home’s style was dramatically transformed from Tuscan to transitional, from dark and heavy to light and bright, with completely updated functionality and highly personalized kitchen and outdoor living area modifications to better fit the client’s way of life. Best of all, according to the builder, working with this client was like having an additional member of the design team; it was a fantastic experience all around. What’s not to like about that?
