This custom home’s interior design theme perfectly complements its composition, with rooms created to be comfortable yet accommodating for large gatherings. Essential among the homeowner’s requests were: family-friendliness yet formality, proportional first and second stories, and abundant storage. As a result, the well-detailed and thoughtfully distributed spaces are welcoming instead of intimidating. Designed, drawn and specified by the interior design firm, interior detailing and intricate architectural millwork is clean and elegant with straight bulkheads and header windows, while the finishes and furnishings are contemporary and glitzy. A 14-foot glass opening at the formal living room with high tray-vaulted ceilings offers poolscape views. The main hallway has aligned windows and art walls off the foyer, which wraps around the formal living room into the family area. Shiplap and board and paneling provide coastal formality. Light gray, white and dark stained cabinetry creates a transitional yet elegant style balanced by brass-gold on light fixtures and artwork. Furnishings and fabrics coordinate flawlessly with the warm floors and elaborate ceilings. Soft neutral hues blend with sheer fabrics and silvery accents; statement chandeliers, custom seating and natural light add relaxed sophistication. Kitchen focal points include the custom stone breakfast table and bar with wood-carved details mirroring the family room’s entertainment center. The main areas invite comfort, with motorized, retractable pocket-sliding doors connecting the outdoor living areas. Creating a single casual space large enough to comfortably entertain a family of 15, presented a challenge. Careful collaboration led to a layout incorporating back-to-back sectionals in the great room. The master suite features a sitting area and bay window overlooking the outdoor living area. The bath offers a freestanding tub, dual vanities with hidden televisions and secluded zen garden shower area with custom pergola and native landscaping. The playroom is a kid-sized paradise, its adorable structural fa├žade leading to indoor highlights including a flower chandelier and Dutch door. Ms. Pac-Man and a Pop-A-Shot basketball game add fun to the home theatre. Outdoors, custom bench seating adds style to the resort-style pool’s unique, center sunken fire pit.
