Calusa Bay Design – A Home with a View

When you walk in a home, you should immediately feel welcomed. Our goal with
this 2-story, coastal casual home was to create that feeling of warmth and
comfort throughout by creating spaces that wrap you in good vibes. We love to
provide homeowners and their guests myriad of entertaining options, and in this
design, the indoor and outdoor spaces create so many of those with great
attention paid to the livability of each space. The great room, which can
accommodate 8, is a warm blend of blue, grey, cream, and brown incorporating 2
rattan-wrapped, swivel lounge chairs and 2 fully upholstered sofas with blue and
white patterned accent pillows. The natural wood beams above run horizontally
and are juxtaposed with white painted tongue and groove to create a warm and
visually appealing focal point. In this open floor plan, we have the opportunity to
spill seamlessly into the directly adjacent dining room which seats 6. This smoked
oak wood table and roped lattice-back chairs ties in, pun intended, to the ropewrapped
oval chandelier above. These materials in the great room give a nautical
feel throughout, which play nicely with the incredible waterfront and boat dock
views throughout. Just off the dining room is one of the jewels of this design, a
stunning wet bar with oversized wine fridge. Wrapped in a soft khaki grass cloth
and grounded with a showstopping mini-herringbone porcelain tile floor, this
space is a bartender’s dream come true. And then we have the indoor and
outdoor kitchen areas which are literally side-by-side, separated only by a fully
pocketing set of sliding glass doors. The nautical mood is carried on by warm, light
oak, wide plank flooring and on the lanai by a noteworthy stained cypress, tray
ceiling treatment with wood and metal fan. The casual coastal design aesthetic
carries through the 4 ensuite bedrooms and family room by adding black accents
to the mix. Notably in one the guest bathrooms, a stunning glass and black iron
grid shower wall and all black faucets provide a wow factor. Warm, cozy, nautical,
coastal, this home is welcoming indeed.
