The designer created the interior design for this complete remodel and furnished the condominium at Monaco Beach Club that had not been updated in 40 years. The goal was to complete a functional and visually pleasing space with an emphasis on the stunning Gulf view and sunsets.
The clients had two specific requirements for the kitchen redesign: a counter-height island to provide seating and an exceptional level of functionality. They also requested a black, gold, and alabaster color scheme throughout; the kitchen reflects the continuation of the color palette.
The original outdated kitchen consisted of slab door laminate cabinets, outdated granite countertops and a back lit fluorescent dome ceiling. A total redesign was accomplished by removing the walls between the breakfast area and living/dining area. A dry bar in the adjacent living room was redesigned and the space behind it in the original was utilized for widening the kitchen as well.
The improvements allowed for a 10’ floating island with the option of seating on both sides. The open flow to the living and dining areas also creates more functionality, affords a more spacious feeling and the added bonus of additional Gulf views.
The removal of the dome ceiling allowed for a continuous flat ceiling with updated LED puck lights and over island pendant lighting.
The custom cabinets are in an alabaster lightly hand glazed finish. The surround countertops with full height backsplash are a durable and heat resistant subtle tone on tone neutral quartz. The island countertop is an exotic Taj Mahal, cream background with gold veining quartzite with the added drama of a 6 cm mitered edge.
Thermador & Wolf luxury appliances inclusive of integrated panel fronts create a streamlined and functional cohesion. The sleek designer faucet, cabinet and appliance hardware are in brushed brass. Three elegant lucite and brass pendants light the island. Performance fabric counter stools with burnished brass bases offer ample seating in the beautiful and functional kitchen.
