Oakes residence in Miromar Lakes
The architecture of this custom estate melds past and present, translating the vernacular of three-story beach homes along the nearby Gulf of Mexico into a modern rendition nestled along a large freshwater lake. Unlike the Mediterranean influences of the originals, this 4,966-square-foot private residence features a contemporary countenance with black and gray – in the windows, Bahama shutters and stair railing – against a pearly white façade and precast stone. The look is dramatic and modern.
Hardwood flooring in second-floor main living spaces nod to the coast while providing a backdrop for shades of taupe black and gray in finishes, clean-lined furnishings and the natural textures of rope, wicker and woven raffia. Color is derived from green foliage and mixed metals.
