Private Residence
A contemporary sleek aesthetic with high-gloss lacquered finishes, dramatic backlit dropped ceilings and minimal furniture and ornamentation defines the master suite of this private residence. Its palette of gray, white and cream is accented with dark undertones, hints of silver and gold, and gray-washed cerused French oak flooring in the bedroom, two custom Poliform walk-in closets and the hallway.
In keeping with the home’s contemporary architecture, the bedroom’s soft pastel gray walls are devoid of excessive recesses, limiting movement to a bed wall niche, an alcove for a sitting area within floor-to-ceiling windows and architectural dropped ceilings painted gray against a white backdrop and backlit for visual impact.
The platform bed features an upholstered channel back headboard echoing the curves of an oval bench and the sitting area’s two oval armchairs which share a black accent table topped with a gleaming silver lamp. Gold is introduced in sculptural art above the bed while the dark wood-toned nightstands feature lamps with matte silver shades.
Window treatments with a faint gray pattern against a light background envelope the sitting area, creating an ethereal setting. Its dropped ceiling conceals the hardware and mechanisms for the automated draperies programmed to close during peak sunlight hours as part of the solar-powered home’s emphasis on energy efficiency. The bedroom’s suspended TV seems to float against window treatments above a contemporary console.
In the bathroom, a backlit suspended ceiling accents the frameless glass-enclosed shower while repeating the bold triangular patterned tile of the floor. Gold appears in the shower’s accent wall, art and the champagne finish of a black-and-white stool at the custom dressing table. Vanities, the dressing table and custom cabinetry hiding a stacking washer and dryer have a lacquered white finish and flat panel doors. White mist quartz countertops feature waterfall edges while the reflective porcelain floor offers a contemporary spin on marble with stylized black veining against crystal. Walls feature textural white wallcovering and rift-sawn oak which adds depth and dimension to the mostly white palette.
Lighting is decidedly modern with a white abstract pendant and tubular sconces illuminating plate-glass mirrors.
