Private Residence
The interior design of this custom residence reflects the casual, open and inviting style of the homeowners, whose top wish was for a home designed for entertaining. Furniture groupings create intimate conversation areas within a spacious great room-reception area that flows to a bar and lounge area, the kitchen and dining area, an expansive game room with shuffleboard, a full-size arcade game, card and billiards tables, as well as numerous outdoor destinations.
Rift-sawn oak warms and scales down spaces, creating a dimensional TV wall in the great room and visually defining transitions from the sun-filled entry gallery and the adjoining lounge featuring a posh banquette with built-in cocktail tables.
Gray walls, white 36-by-36-inch stone flooring in main gathering areas and wide-planked wood floors in bedrooms, the game room and second-floor loft create backdrops for a palette of vibrant cobalt, denim, white and pale and smokey grays in the geometric, brush-stroked and herringbone patterns of tweed, linen and plush upholstery and window treatments.
Ceilings feature floating crown molding accenting individual coffers, painted plank and tongue-in-groove surfaces and pecky cypress above the staircase. Translucent quartz countertops in the kitchen, bar and powder room were selected for their cobalt veining.
Furniture finishes range from ash, medium-gloss gray, metallic bronze, champagne, and antiqued white, silvers and glazed indigo leather chosen for their vintage lived-in look.
Entertainment is also emphasized in special places for overnight guests. A freestanding cabana offers a bedroom, morning kitchen and private patio. Accents of sea-glass aqua are reflected in the planked bed wall, bathroom barn doors and bathroom backsplash with a porthole window echoing architectural accents.
Second-floor bedrooms share a balcony and the loft, which has a cream-hued sectional sofa and a console featuring hand-painted silver-leaf eglomise glass doors. En suite bathrooms are tailored to the design of their bedrooms – bright blue cabinetry in one, gray and white in another and an industrial look in the pool bath.
Art plays off the owners’ collection of Clyde Butcher photographs, a passion for birds and Florida’s natural environment, the latter rendered in vibrant tropical landscape paintings capturing the golden hour.
