This residence is envisioned for those who love the excitement of downtown or the tranquility of a day at the beach with access to an active lifestyle. The community attracts a diverse range of residents, most being part-time and aged 50 or above.

The residence has an expansive open floor plan for the main living area which requires special consideration to defining each area. Incorporating ceiling details, lighting design, maximizing the furniture layout, managing budget constraints and tailoring the décor for mass appeal are all challenges we faced.

We created a comfortable, welcoming space with a hint of mid century design with universal appeal. Textural materials such as warm brown wood tones, glass, bronze metals & acrylics are combined to create a bit of drama – all set against a background of white, with accents of deep blue & gold. The design focus was to create a sense of symmetry throughout.

The foyer showcases two recessed tray ceilings with a pair of coordinating multi-tiered gold metal and glass pendants. Twelve square mirror panels are affixed to the entry walls which brighten and expand the space.
A drop ceiling design was added to the living room to define the space and add recessed lighting. In the center of the reverse symmetrical ceiling details, a modern circular chandelier with a bronze metal finish illuminates the space. The feature wall in this area is finished with white, geometric mid-century design wallpaper that covers the entire wall. A floating media cabinet, which provides needed storage and complimenting shelving for displaying collectables, creates interest by incorporating an asymmetrical design. Furnishings in the living room include two sofas accented by a pair of wood-back chairs in a dark walnut finish; fabrics for the upholstered pieces are textured creamy white accented with blue & taupe pillows. To maintain the sense of symmetry in the space, a pair of cocktail tables with a wood frame, glass top and metal legs are centered on each sofa.
White quartz countertops are featured on both the island and the perimeter. The backsplash showcases beveled glass subway tile in a taupe tone which reflects natural sunlight.
The den highlights a channeled, grey fabric sectional sofa. Two niches house mirrors to reflect light. A mid-century modern chandelier with Edison bulbs, finished in black and gold metal is centered on the ceiling. A feature wall in finished in a metallic bronze toned paint paired with a royal blue cabinet and brass sculpture.

Softer color tones are presented in the owner’s bedroom. The bed is finished in a cream fabric with white and soft blue bedding. A gold metal and glass chandelier completes the serene design.

White gloss vanity cabinetry in the owner’s bathroom plays against grey quartz countertops and a silver beaded wallpaper throughout. The vanity’s lighting fixtures coordinate with the glass and gold metal chandelier in the bedroom.

Overall, the interior design scheme served to maximize the natural light, create a bright and airy atmosphere, and contribute to a sense of tranquility.
