Model Home

This spec home allowed us the opportunity to design a spec home that was not your typical “coastal” aesthetic. We were able to take risks, that ultimately paid off and was well received by potential buyers. We created a home that did not feel like spec home but a custom residence with a slight modern flare. We wanted the home to have a modern sophisticated aesthetic, while still being comfortable and approachable. The developer gave us free reigns to be creative and gave us a good budget to really create a home that would sell. Some unique features of the home were the drywall ceiling clouds that were accented with LED lighting to create a soft ambiance with architectural nodes. We used millwork in several areas create that custom feel as well elevate the spaces from being just drywall. Some examples are the stained white oak cased openings we did in the main hallways as well as around the Master Bathroom Tub Area that we also accented with wood slats. These areas when there just drywall had no character and these details elevated them to the next level. In the Kitchen we continued the theme with the warm rift cut white oak cabinets that we accented with a custom zinc hood. The oversized island with a Monte Blanc Quartzite waterfall edge is accented with a beautiful oversized multi-tiered pendant of blown glass. In the Kitchen we also mixed in some black to bring some of that modern feel to this space. We also did different types of cabinet hardware and added backplates to the hardware on the black cabinets to really customize this area as we feel hardware is like jewelry and really elevates the space. We really wanted to make the exterior and interior spaces feel like one big space, so we did a black stain on exterior cypress ceiling and white oak beams. We also brought the black accent into the exterior fireplace that has a black oxidized porcelain on the top and leather black granite on the bottom. In the bedrooms we dressed up the walls and ceilings with wallcovering rather than millwork. Specifically, in the Master Bedroom we did a beatul textured wallcovering on the walls and did a metallic geometric patterned wallcovering in the already unique drywall ceiling tray. We love to layer bedding and curate the pieces from several different vendors. All of the bedding is washable and easy to maintain while still looking great. In the Powder we did a unique floating vanity with a combination of the riftcut white oak and opal white marble accents. Another upgrade was the 10′ trustile kerf cut doors that we added (in place of the standard 8′ doors) to really accentuate the high ceilings and to make them feel more proportionate. Overall we really enjoyed doing a different design style for this area, while still having it appeal to many different types of buyers.
