This grand primary bathroom was severely outdated with a platform tub, glass block shower walls and lackluster cabinetry. The client’s main goal was to create a spa-like retreat with functional touches such as a makeup vanity, walk in shower and freestanding tub.
The shower footprint was revised to increase functionality. A long, floating bench was created as well as a linear drain. The shower floor was raised to create a seamless walk-in experience. And a long custom niche with LED lighting to enhance the space and add visual appeal. The shower itself was recessed back into the wall in order to create a more private space while still retaining the ‘walk-in’ feel.
The vanity area was re-configured with more functional cabinetry, including specialty inserts for makeup and hair tools. To accentuate the grandeur of the 11’ ceilings, custom elongated wood-framed mirrors were installed above the vanities. Texture and color were added to the vanity wall by way of a vinyl grass cloth wallpaper by Phillip Jeffries.
The material choices were soft and neutral with the intent of creating a timeless space while still feeling contemporary. A dolomite-like porcelain tile was installed on the floors and shower walls. The cabinets were painted a warm-grey. And the mix of nickel and brushed gold in the plumbing and lighting fixtures elevate this spa-like space.
This bathroom truly transitioned into a regal, spa-like retreat. Each thoughtful detail created a more custom feel to this gorgeous primary bath.
