Located in one of Naples’ most treasured beach neighborhoods, this 3,000-square-foot condo was purchased by our clients as a space for family and friends to stay when visiting them (our clients have their own condo in the same building). The goal was to make it a comfortable and inviting beach getaway for a large extended family.
The outdated and closed-off unit gave no indication that it was in a beautiful coastal destination. We decided to open the layout and clean up the aesthetic by removing old materials and trim work. The designers began by raising up the former lanai floor that had been enclosed with glass at some point. New wood flooring was installed throughout the condo and into this space so that it is a continuation of the living area, instead of a separate room. Functioning as the new dining room, it serves up delectable Gulf views.
We removed the old dining area and created a new kitchen in the space. The perimeter walls were wrapped in white shaker cabinetry and white subway tile backsplash. In the center of the kitchen, we created the perfect area for communal cooking and conversations around the kitchen table. A large walnut island is topped with durable and handsome Fantasy Brown granite that spills onto a built-in table surrounded with Chippendale chairs in a performance animal print, adding personality and charm.
The living room is a large open space between the new kitchen and new dining room. It is perfect for family gatherings with an oversized and inviting sectional, two plush swivel chairs, an accent chair, useful leather ottomans with wood tops, and side tables for placing drinks, remote controls, books, etc. The seating area faces an alluring new focal wall with a built-in media console and dry bar clad in white shiplap. Floating shelves in warm walnut stand out above crisp white cabinets topped with the same Fantasy Brown granite as the kitchen and hold barware and accessories while framing the large wall-mounted TV. We also used the white shiplap to line the Foyer walls to create a coastal feeling right as you enter the condo.
The original master bathroom had separate “his/her” bathing areas, as well as individual closets. Taking a more modern approach, we demolished existing walls and opened the area up, allowing for a unified bathroom. The master bathroom now feels large, airy, and very serene, with an entire focal wall clad in Carrara tile that is anchored by a free-standing soaking tub. The wall-mounted tub filler is positioned on opulent high-gloss, soft sea foam accent tile that is echoed on the focal wall of the gorgeous shower.
Our clients are thrilled with the way we opened this condo to take maximum advantage of the splendid beach views. Removing outdated background materials allowed for a more current and cleaner visage, making this condo a tranquil and comfortable coastal getaway that the family can enjoy when visiting.
