Private Residence

For our Modernized Traditional project, the main goal was de-tuscanizing this home while allowing some of the original character and charm to remain. There is a variety of traditional elements like the arched windows, applied moulding wall paneling in entry and dining room, the traditional crown moulding details. To modernize some of these architectural details, we created sleek transitional cabinetry designs. For instance, the grand salon living room and fireplace detail, that is a sharp bevel design out of Calacatta Lincoln. Like many outdated homes one of the biggest eyesores of the original layout was the kitchen. We did a major transformation by opening up the walls and changing the entire layout of the kitchen and pantry area. The kitchen was originally oriented on 45-degree angels, so we squared it off making it parallel to the family room. The kitchen offers a variety of details that create this play between modern and traditional. The porcelain slab countertops and full height backsplash are accentuated by the large slab hood, this creates a very modern sleek element to this design. The white cabinetry and stained walnut accents are a classic pallet for traditional design. The 3-dimensional pyramid cabinet doors can be seen over the years in traditional and modern designs. One of our favorite details is the island end panels with inlayed polished nickel X detail. As a jewel box design, we created the pantry with blue cabinetry and antique mirror mosaic backsplash that is also in the back of the upper cabinets. The powder room is a stunning glass mosaic tile paired with a ribbed stained white oak cabinet and textured glass divider. The home features Legno Bastone wood flooring throughout. The master suite has a built-in custom headboard with mirrors behind the nightstand and upholstered wall paneling between. The bathroom features a his and her side with a shared shower. The flooring is a stunning mosaic of Carrara and white Thasos marble. The custom cabinet details are similar, but we painted his side grey and chose different hardware to creative the feminine and masculine sides. This home has 5 other bedrooms and on suites that are fully renovated as well. The outdoor living space is perfect for entertaining. When we met the homeowners, it was at the very end of Covid, and their dream was to create their own resort style living. With 4 grown children this home was the perfect layout to bring everybody together while allowing personal space. The 2 guest houses flanking the covered terrace and pool area help create this feeling of hotel rooms at a resort. The original pool was a kidney shape, we wanted a sleek modern design with a sun deck in the pool as well as a larger jacuzzi. With the new extended pool deck we were able to get a variety of seating areas like a boutique hotel would have.
