Collins DuPont Design Group – French Provincial Chic

This 5,784 square foot private residence nestled in the Mediterra community of Naples was transformed from a lackluster space into a French Provincial showstopper. The original design, though functional, appeared utilitarian. The designer created a welcoming environment with a soft, inviting color palette and warm wood elements.

The open Kitchen, with its proximity to the entry, is the initial introduction to and hub of this home. Artisan crafted wire brushed, alder planked ceiling insets finished with a custom stain were added between the existing, freshly painted white beams. A painted and glazed, light wood tone center island is flanked by perimeter cabinetry with a sophisticated yet simple profile in a warm white paint. Antique glass in the uppers reveals mercury glass mirror with LED lighting. A beautiful cast iron farm sink with a brushed satin nickel pull down faucet and pot filler lend a modern nod to the traditional country cottage origins of French Provincial.

Cristallo quartzite countertops serve as the perfect complement to the back splash fashioned of hand made, individually dipped tiles that produce an undulating effect of symmetry and depth without complicating the design.

The pantry was enlarged by borrowing from the adjacent Laundry Room and cleverly disguised with a 6 panel door inset with obscuring rain glass to add intrigue to an otherwise ordinary feature.

A dry bar recessed into a nook under the kitchen window is a seamless transition to the cabinetry and, with its juxtaposition to the great room, incorporates two functions within the same space as an extension of both areas while still embracing the cottage appeal.

The reproduction dining table in an oak driftwood finish is reminiscent of French countryside living while the elegant frosted, crystal beaded chandelier finished in antique gold suspended above evokes the style of stately manor homes built by French aristocrats. Typical of the period, the host and hostess chairs upholstered in a neutral classic stripe paired with Louis XVI leather side chairs are the epitome of impeccable beauty and comfort.
