Private Residence

The entire space plan of this 11,462 square foot residence, from the color story to material selections and every intricate detail, was designed around the clients’ impressive collection of priceless, original art.

A palette that combines cool whites and dark neutrals is the ideal canvas for the works throughout the home and the master suite is no exception.

In the bedroom, a low dark leather bed was selected to permit the artwork to be the dramatic focal point and inspiration for the decorative bedding, with added pops of romantic pinks and coral for balance. High gloss lacquer on the dresser and nightstands brings contrast to the matte oak floors in a brushed ebony finish. Lighting was minimized so as not to distract from the artwork or gorgeous corner view of the lake. With a little help from textured custom blackout draperies and back lit dropped ceiling details, this master suite was ultimately designed by our team to be a spa-like retreat for this busy young couple.

The spa experience continues down the master gallery to the stunning master bathroom. Front and center is a custom back lit resin panel with 3-dimensional crystals by artist, Alex Turco. The piece brings a cool, organic vibe to the juxtaposed geometric lines of the ceiling and surrounding space while dictating the color palette for the rest of the materials. The homeowner can bask in the glow of the art panel while soaking in the oversized oval tub floating on the sea of polished Everquartz black pearl tiles. The double shower is clad with mesmerizing textured glass tile in a dark silver finish and adorned with polished chrome plumbing. His and her cantilevered vanities finished in a satin charcoal obeche with chrome hardware feature under cabinet lighting for added spa-like effects.

As the entire residence is concrete from floor to ceiling, dropped ceilings were necessarily designed to house both ambient and decorative lighting. Square recessed down lights assist with illumination for the vanities while the back lit, geometric dropped tray ceilings promote a warm glow effect. Keeping the lighting modern and minimal allowed the artwork, mix of materials and color palette to truly tell the story in this modern masterpiece home.
