The owners of this home came to the interior designer with the goal of “de-Tuscanizing” it. Both the interiors and exterior featured strong Mediterranean influences throughout—all of which were removed during the renovation.
In the kitchen, the designer created a custom, one-of-a-kind space that perfectly suits the home’s new transitional modern feel. After replacing the existing tile floors with wood and adding beamed ceilings, she removed the heavily Tuscan hood and replaced it with a custom black and gold one from Modern-Aire. Behind it, she installed a striking black and white abstract-patterned backsplash, complemented by black and white cabinetry and gold accents and hardware. A sleek L-shaped island flanked by geometrical Adriana Hoyos counter stools round out the room’s luxe look.
The interior designer also replaced the butler’s pantry with a slightly smaller walk-in pantry in order to widen the adjacent hallway leading into the family room, making the room feel much more open and spacious. Overall, the kitchen’s upscale but comfortable design is far from the formal Mediterranean space that was there before, but it’s the perfect embodiment of the clients’ chic style.
