The original floor plan was conceptualized to take advantage of the lakefrontage, offering exceptional views from every
primary space. Mid-Century Modern and Japanese influences weighed heavily in the overall design from the start of the
project. With the design intent in full swing, including feature walls and ceiling treatments, the owners of the spec home were
thrilled with the direction and aesthetic. Minor adjustments to meet the owner’s specific needs included converting the
game room into a wine room with full entertainment capabilities, changing the layout of the primary bath, adding dual prep
islands in the kitchen, increasing the pool patio’s footprint, and modifying the exterior landscaping. Designer Sherie Weidner
was pivotal in the architectural changes while overseeing custom lighting and smart-home features. Here expertise in ceiling
and wall applications throughout, interior, and exterior hard surfaces, bath and kitchen designs, furniture selections, rugs,
drapery fabrics, sunshades, artwork, and accessories were essential. The homeowner was inspired by a commercial for the show
Mad Men, with low, sleek couches, and the essence of California cool was captured thoughtfully and balanced by the melding
of mid-century Scandinavian warmth with Japanese minimalism. Setting a clean yet warm, rustic yet contemporary, and
serene yet cozy timeless appeal with touches of wood, metal, and black.
