This kitchen received a completely new footprint and style, transitioning it from a small, dated space to a fresh, open area with a mid-century modern feel. First, the interior designer raised the ceiling by updating the HVAC system to coincide with current building codes and latest air duct options. Then, she extended the outer perimeter of the kitchen into the great room and added counter-height seating, as well as a bar under the counter between the kitchen and the great room for ease in entertainment. For the backsplash, she selected a geometric white and gray tile, which makes a statement against the bright Dekton countertops. The pattern also helps establish the mid-century vibe, which is further enhanced by the navy and white cabinets, driftwood accents inside the cabinets and bar, and gold globe chandelier.

In the middle of the kitchen, she replaced the original kitchen island with a larger one featuring a gorgeous industrial Dekton countertop with blue and gray tones and gold hardware. Yet even with the enlarged island, the kitchen still feels open, light, and comfortable. Ultimately, the redesign transformed the overall look of the kitchen, creating a gorgeous and fun space, while also completely amplifying the function of the space.
