Serenity was the one word that was on the top of our mind throughout the entire
design process of this tranquil aquatic oasis. From any window in the back half of
this home, one can gaze out across two bodies of water, the 42’ long pool/spa
and the tranquil lake just beyond. Indeed, as one enters the home through the
front door, the view of this pool is perfectly centered and provides that ‘wow’
factor for every new guest. A classic rectangular shape was selected, but the
emphasis was on making each of the 3 water features completely seamless and
flush with each other. Rather than a typical raised spa, this one allows you to feel
at one with the pool and can accommodate 10 (!) people into the heated and
balmy bubbles. After a stint in the spa, one can lounge on the sun shelf for a cold
drink and the perfect recline while perched on top of just a few inches of
refreshing water. This is the ultimate in relaxation and aquatic luxury. Form meets
function with the design elements chosen, an array of subtle blues and whites
throughout inspired by the Florida Gulf. Punctuated by a glass tile along the
waterline and a corresponding tile wrapped on the three dramatic, raised gas fire
bowls, this material adds the shimmer and sparkle analogous to fine jewelry. The
white shell stone deck was specifically chosen because of its ability to remain cool
on the foot in the hottest of Florida seasons. This classic coastal material not only
doesn’t get hot, but it keeps the space light and bright while doing so. This pool
design provides wide expanses of deck and grass to accommodate large or small
gatherings of guests who can congregate either close to the lake, near to the
master suite, under the covered seating area, or even spilling out through the
accordion doors flanking the interior great room. It is equally suited for
entertaining larger groups and for more intimate gatherings alike.
