Few things say “grand” like a gorgeous stairway, and the beautiful stairs at are unforgettable thanks in large part to its Old World detailing. A custom-built work of art, it not only looks the part, it is a fine-built accoutrement to an already spectacular house. We built in a hidden door for usable space underneath, and created a custom railing, designed with help of the homeowners. The symmetrical stairwell itself is a dazzling space with applied molding from top to bottom and a beautiful vaulted ceiling above. The walls of the stairwell consisted of sheets of MDF applied directly over the sheetrock, followed by multi-step poplar molding. The painters were very busy on this section of the home. And with this as the finished product, who wouldn’t want to take the stairs?
