PBS Contractors – Private Residence in the Quarry

-This project is a residential renovation for a repeat client in The Quarry. The purpose of this project was to modernize the home, built in 1997 on a lake. The client’s design inspirations were drawn from their love of the water and appreciation for colorful pieces of art. Collaborating with the Interior Designer and us, the builder, we created a forever home for their family and grandchildren to enjoy for many years.

-Deviating away from the common “greige” interior aesthetic seen in many coastal homes, the focal point of the home is the beautiful white oak nickel gap wall and ceiling architectural details. Drawing the eye past the white oak nickel gap and to the pool and outdoor living area, a palate of cool blues, bright greens, and mild yellows are found in the designer textiles and on furniture. The kitchen greets guests with a calming blue island and Quartzite surfaces.

-The primary bedroom was designed so the client could take full advantage of the views of the lake. A nickel gap architectural ceiling tray was installed and painted the same color as the walls, emulating a feeling of calm, and bringing in a sense of nature.

-The residence was completed with relative ease with a couple of challenges. The White Oak 8” nickel gap ceilings and television bump out were particularly challenging to execute. The material is difficult to manipulate and very heavy. The interior designer was very specific about the look and feel of the design. On the television bump out, the wood transitions in 3 directions and has two 90-degree angles at either side. It required a skilled craftsman with a wealth of experience, which culminated in a collaboration with the carpentry trade partner. It was their execution and our construction project management team, combined with the design brilliance of the interior designer, which resulted in a gorgeous and unique focal point.

-The coping around the pool was also a challenge. The raised wall around the spa, and pool perimeter needed to be wrapped, using a 24×48” porcelain tile that had a factory-finished mitered edge to it, from Ruben Sorhegui tile. The paving trade partner demonstrated precision and patience to get that very difficult task right.

-The laundry room is a testament to the collaboration between the interior designer and the cabinetry drafter. The finishing touches of bright and cheery wall treatments on all four walls create a vibrant energy and welcoming space inspired by biophilia.

-The whole feel of the property, from the front door to the outdoor living environment has a calmness and serenity to it, all created by L Design. There is a visual language throughout the property that suits its geographical location perfectly.
